After two years as a virtual event, the Wauwatosa Education Foundation (EFW) will host a one-mile stampede (fun run) starting at 8 a.m. Sept. 18 at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Anyone may sign up to participate. All proceeds benefit grants for Tosa School District teachers.

Students can either participate in a fun run before the zoo opens — start times are staggered between 8:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. — or with their families on a more leisurely one-mile stamp-along path anytime between 9:30 a.m and 11 a.m.

Sign up by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 28 to receive the $18 early bird rate and a commemorative T-shirt. Registration is required at efwzoostampede.org.

After their walk/run, attendees can stay at the zoo as long as they want to enjoy the animals and all the zoo has to offer.

The morning includes games and giveaways. Music and other fun things are also planned.

Registration increases to $25 per person on Aug. 29.
